Biography

Ashley King represents clients in a broad range of complex litigation, employment, and white collar matters. Known for her strategic mindset and meticulous attention to detail, Ashley combines a practical, solution-oriented approach with a strong understanding of the broader business landscape in which her clients operate.

In the white collar arena, Ashley assists companies with internal investigations and compliance initiatives, including the development and implementation of anti-bribery and corruption training programs. Her clients span a variety of industries and range from multinational corporations to local businesses, whom she has guided through complex regulatory frameworks both domestically and abroad.

Ashley also has significant experience advising employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws. Prior to joining the firm, Ashley regularly defended clients in wage-and-hour class actions and other employment-related disputes. She also counseled clients on labor and employment issues arising in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

Ashley earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where she served as Chief Managing Editor and Interim Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Law Review, and externed for the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Ashley’s representative experience prior to joining Kibler Fowler & Cave includes:

  • Conducting an internal investigation on behalf of elite private university relating to allegations of domestic public corruption, bribery, money laundering, and fraud, and assisted institution in responding to federal grand jury investigation, which ultimately resulted in no charges.
  • Representing third-party witnesses in federal jury trial involving allegations of public corruption, bribery, money laundering, and fraud.
  • Representing one of the world’s largest entertainment companies in harassment, discrimination, failure to accommodate, retaliation, and wrongful termination actions.
  • Conducting statewide wage-and-hour audits for clients and advised on implementation of revised practices and policies.
  • Advising clients ranging from multinational corporations to local startups on the implementation and upkeep of employment-related policies and agreements, including developing robust COVID-19, wage and hour, and antidiscrimination compliance programs, effectively navigating the frequent shifts in the legal landscape across federal and state laws.
  • Representing an e-commerce logistics and fulfillment company in numerous wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA claims, resulting in settlements favorable to the company.
  • Conducting employment law trainings, including sexual harassment training for managers and wage-and-hour compliance training for senior HR managers.
  • Performing extensive due diligence and contract negotiation for dozens of high-value mergers and acquisitions, including for a $2.7 billion acquisition, identifying and mitigating employment law risks leading to smooth transitions and integration of personnel.
  • Representing multiple companies in actions before California’s Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.
